Cruises – Dominican Republic

Dominican Republic. With the arrival of 70 thousand cruises this country via the port of Santo Domingo during the cruise season 2007-2008, the city had benefited from an unprecedented inflow of foreign exchange, it was reported today in digital.

Estimates by the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA), an association responsible for overseeing all issues of importance on the cruise industry, such as tourism development, legislation and security, show that every tourist who arrives in Santo Domingo spent in the purchase of goods and services, approximately U.S. $ 80.00 U.S. dollars ($ 2736.00 Dominican pesos).

Information on the amount of people received in Puerto Santo Domingo was detailed by Luis Molina, executive director of Sans Souci, who highlighted the achievements of the cruise season and the economic contribution of tourism to the GDP component.

He asserted that "with the 34 ships that played between the port-loaded, unloaded and transit-demonstrated the ability of the port to meet and take care of all cruise ships that step the city's First American." He reiterated the company's commitment to work towards the revitalization of Santo Domingo as a preferred tourist destination in the region and the world.
